HIV/AIDS in the City

Isandla Institute's HIV/AIDS in the City programme has done extensive work on HIV/AIDS and sustainable human settlements. The purpose of this work is to contribute to a betterunderstanding of the specific factors in particular urban localities that contribute to (or possibly hinder)the spread of HIV and that influence the coping capabilities of individuals, households, communities and institutions (including the developmental state) when affected by HIV/AIDS.

Isandla Institute has developed a number of publications, including a concept paper on sustainable human settlements in the context of HIV/AIDS and a guide offering practical suggestions for integrating HIV/AIDS into housing and human settlements. For more, visit our website at www.isandla.org.za
